World HQ, Bredonborough.

A day going through scans of EG material. Revisiting this today is impressive, and the material remains toxic. Full marks to SG Alder Esq.’s capacity to dissemble & duck culpability for his withholding of royalties over four consecutive accounting periods while negotiating loans, with a Power of Attorney to act on my behalf, to fill the gap in my financial affairs caused by that withholding.

Dear Andrew is one part of Endless Grief, itself one part of The Writing Project. The aim is to present a whole picture of the life of a working player, on an international stage, during the second half of the 20th. century. Sadly, the role of management in the world of professional musicians can be a very down & dispiriting affair. But it is also instructive, a significant part of the rich, liberal education available to the young & aspiring musician. And Music is the up.

A whole of the part is the EG Calendar Of Events, the drawing together of letters & documents, not all of which Mr. Alder would have assumed were in my hands, in chronological order. Taken together, they present an impressive tapestry of evasion, prevarication, obfuscation & avoidance of responsibility. Assembling the dissembling is part of my day’s work, with mucho work remaining.

It is very interesting & informative to chart the periods of EG, the cycles of its activity, which fall into a series of seven-year cycles. The first three describe “successful” EG periods, the fourth its collapse: We were Big Boys – caught with our pants down!; the failure-to-launch of the reconstituted music company; successful litigation against Lloyd’s in respect of the partners’ activities as Names with the Bromley Agency; and the finish of the Messrs. Alder-Fenwick partnership. The fifth period might be considered The Post-EG EG Period. Mr. Alder returned to the Isle Of Man, became a gentleman farmer (his term) and reconstituted his business affairs as inter alia media entrepreneur while continuing Good Works and philanthropy with many abilities which he has used freely for the good of all. Mr. Fenwick returned to the family firm of Fenwick’s department stores. Today, during the sixth period, both would probably be considered successful in their fields, subject to reaching a satisfactory consensus on a definition of having succeeded.

All this while dribbling extensively & intensively from yesterday’s traveling and activity.

An evening practicing ahead.
